I AM FEMALE MAGAZINE GUEST BLOGGER

Farewell Lunch: Scarflets x Hana T x Garbagelapsap

WHAT: A farewell lunch & meet-up.
WHERE: Alexis, Gardens.
WHY: Dearest Sha Elaiza is leaving soon to New Zealand for her studies, her holiday has ended (boo!). In conjunction with that, to repay the good deed of Hana Tajima for inviting us to her tea party - we're treating her for lunch.
WHO: The one celebrated upon, Sha Elaiza. Special guests; Hana Tajima & her personal assistant Puteri Ezra, Nicholas & friend Johan from Garbagelapsap.com (Malaysia's own famous street-style photographer).

I first saw this lovely girl at LIVE FASHION/LOVE MUSIC event, mesmerized by her lovely elegance & presence but ofcourse was too afraid to say anything (I felt rather awkward being in a crowd, first event I went to after months in the hospital). Anyways, started reading her { blog } since then. She is such an inspiration for all her Islamic posts & modest style, someone I can actually look up to ~ feeling rather in sync coz she too has a flair for fashion. Finally get to meet her at lil Luqman's birthday party. Her soft demure & personality shines through in real life, which what made me hooked even more. Kept in contact since then, and she's one of the sisters that I'd always go to if I have any queries or doubts regarding Islam and she's been such a big help (being born as Muslim doesn't necessarily means we're perfectly educated in it, sometimes we make the wrong choices in life & sometimes we need to re-learn a few forgotten stuffs. Thank you Allah for still giving me that chance). Despite the fact that she's a lot younger than me, but I can't deny she's a whole lot wiser way beyond her years. She has inspired me to be a better person, I am really blessed to have known you dear ♥

Looking immensely awkward standing next to Hana T. Still can't get used to the fact I've actually met this girl before and everything. I still stutter whenever I talk to her, my spoken English could not have picked a better time to show all it flaws T_T. Chatted with her and when she asked about my first encounter with leukemia (updates!) I just wanted to burst into tears! Oh God, I'm such a sappy girl. Could barely talk after that and had to sit down haha LOL me. Poor Hana though, she tried consoling me by saying it's okay to cry and I don't need to be/appear strong all the time. Which eventually made it worst. I was a ball of messiness haha.

Hana Tajima is wearing a maxi dress from her new collection, which will be out for sale in a few months time (bummer, looks like we all have to wait).

Anyways I calmed down and Emmy & Fira tried to put a smile on my face. The cutest thing ever :") Emmy holding up the gold colored Schanaz Scarf she bought from me. But ofcourse, my sisters gets exclusive preview & pre-sale :)

Nicholas & Johan from Garbagelapsap. First encountered Nicholas during ChicPop 6. Despite the fact that us Scarflets sisters were scattered all over the place at ChicPop, he managed to take photos of some of us individually. He contacted me through twitter asking whether I'm part of a gang, that was funny nonetheless & I showed him the scarflets photos and he said he's interested in doing a story about us. Hence I invited him to the event, kill two birds with one stone ;) He took style shots of us & shall publish them at his web, gradually. Thank you so much Nicholas for the photo invite, hope everything was up to par or at least I hope you got what you needed :)

With the girls, invaded a whole large room at Alexis. When us girls get together, all we do is eat - take photos - take photos - talk - take photos - talk - take photos. Haha you can imagine all the cameras being snapped here & there! It was quite crazy coz there were so many of us!

The most VVIP of 'em all! Mr. Luqman Wazif and mom, Anna Joe ^_^ They arrived rather late after half the girls have already gone back. Well ofcourse the baby needs his midday nap, who could argue with that bundle of cuteness. Look at him sucking on his thumb. Awwwwwwwwwww!

Last but not least, featuring my baby scarflet sister - Fira Hanis. She's explaining how she wore her turban x scarf. Inspired by yours truly who's been rocking a turban & hijab every chance I could (hehe) and by the style of Arab Emirates stewardess. Let's all ask her for a tutorial! And isn't she the cutest? Honestly though, before I know her I thought she was an uptight girl (sorry baby) but was proven very very wrong coz she's actually a super soft-spoken and adorable girl, just like a baby. Haha, remember girls; TAK KENAL MAKA TAK CINTA. Never judge someone you don't know, they might have a different story than what you actually think :")

p/s: Details of what I wore is posted { here }. And did you check out the Oscars this morning? Here are some of my favorites.

EDIT: Just made a facebook page for this blog, do LIKE it if you want to :)

WIWT Stripe Hijabscarf & RiceBowl Food!

Overdue pics of 17th February 2011:
WHAT I WORE: Stripe infinity scarf from HijabScarf, Jezmine bought it for me on her trip to Jakarta | Inner turban from Sugarscarf | Shimmery top from The Shoplifters | High-waisted tapered pants from Kiss & Tell, last worn here | Red flats from Cotton On

So funny that some people actually thought I'm not married yet, despite the fact that I just put my wedding dress photo a few posts below. LOL kesian my husband! Hehe

Dinner at JR Rice Bowl Restaurant, Prima Saujana Kajang. It was featured in Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan a few weeks ago so we just had to check it out since it's near our area :)
You'd think 4 riceballs is not enough, think again!
Everything is super duper yummy! Or we were already too hungry to begin with?
Finished our food! Hurray! The food was delicious but the restaurant itself needs to improve on cleanliness. The toilet and sinks next to the eating area were filled with what looks like unnecessary stuffs, for a JJCM approved restaurant, you would expect it to be atleast looking clean yeah? But nonetheless loving the food!

p/s: Had my second check-up with the oncologist today, my bone marrow result is out and it's alhamdulillah such a positive progress. Shall reveal more soon! Alhamdulillah ya Allah thank you so much for being merciful & generous. And my highest gratitude to my mom, parents-in-law, husband, family, friends & to all of you who prayed & wished me well. You guys are awesome! ♥

FEATURED: Wikipedia & InTrend

About 10 days ago, Brooke Benoit of Rolling Ruminations sent me an email introducing herself as an American writer who has an odd hobby of writing & submitting to Wikipedia entries. She asked for permission to submit one of my picture for a Wiki page, which is list of types of Sartorial Hijab. The list indexes styles of clothing found predominantly in Muslim societies. And she thinks it would be awesome if I provided an image for "Tudung", not a traditional image but a look with a trendy twist. Obviously I agreed to it! I let her browse through all my hijab pictures on my blog and recommended the picture above because it looks like the most common style most Malaysians muslimah wears (even if you are wearing tudung bawal, right?) but with my personalized trendy twist as requested.

She sent me a permission form to fill up & voila, on 21st February it's official!
Check it out: { WIKIPEDIA: SARTORIAL HIJAB }.

And to my surprise! My blog has also been featured in a list of 50 chosen Malaysian blogs 2011 by InTrend ♥ Thank you so much InTrend!
Under Hijab section. My decision to don a hijab permanently has proven to be much a blessing so far! And most of the girls featured in this section are my Scarflet sisters ♥

Oh no! I'm quite embarrassed by that come hither manja look -_-". A style I pulled off at Mimpi Kita's boutique launching, it was actually a raw 2 metres fabric I twisted & turned into a wearable hijab :) I was also featured { here } in the past.

A lil' sneak preview into my small home office/studio, good things are in the making.

And to tease you up a lil bit more, my own label SCHANAZ, coming soon. Just sent a batch with various glam colors to the production team. Counting the moment to pick it up!
Leave your email here to get the latest updates!

EDIT: What a surprise, Tee Elliot drew me! Has a bit of Andy Warhol influence into it, yes/no?
Loving it dear! Thank you so much :) This was me in WIWT: COLOR FOOL.

ASK AMI: Style & Sneakers

Salam dear sister, I'm so sorry it took me almost a week to answer your fashion question. I've been swamped with other stuffs & also was trying to collect enough quality data to present in order to answer this question. It was quite hard because you specifically said you don't like layers?
  • Well for me, in my imagination wearing a simple tee + skinny jeans (one size up if you're wearing hijab) + sneakers, there can only be one thing that makes a lot of difference which is by adding a piece of jacket/drape cardigan/tailored blazer.
  • Sneakers or not, you gotta be brave in experimenting with colors, don't just stick to white & black. Add a pinch of neon to your outfit, if you don't like girly colors try lemon lime, funky orange or in-your-face purple shade.
  • But please do not wear sneakers to a formal company/government event unless if it involves sports or you are working in an art/construction scene.
WIWT: Neon Grey, just imagine I'm wearing a yellow hi-top Supra (and forgive me for wearing skinny jeans in this photo, I just started wearing hijab at that time and more or less jahil in terms of aurat); via Hanneli.
  • For tops, it can be a variety of things depending on the event you're going to! Some of them are loose t-shirts with loud graphics, sequin tank tops, lace long sleeves, empire cut baby-doll dresses, plaids, bell sleeve vintage tops.
  • For bottoms, don't restrict yourselves to only skinny jeans. Try cargo pants, harem pants & even long skirts.
  • For outerwear, think light-weight casual pieces. You must probably think that blazers are only for formal functions, I beg to differ! Think pin-stripe blazers, chiffon blazers & even corduroy ones (although I would only recommend corduroy if you're staying indoors coz it would probably be too hot outside). And why not a parka, if you're out at night or on rainy days.
  • For accessorizing, try adding button badges on the lapel of your jacket, studded bangles, oversized rings and maybe another layer of plain stretchable cotton shawl ala Yuna ;) and don't forget your socks! It seals your look and your feet won't be too smelly by the end of the day. Hehe.
  • Other than that perhaps you can take a look at the polyvore set I've acquired;
More can be viewed at my Sporty Style collection.

Various street-style with sneakers.

Hope this helped my dear! ♥
